Howard Snider: 1961-2012
This page is dedicated to the memory of Ames Police Department Sergeant Howard Snider, who drowned on June 17, 2012 — Father’s Day – after bringing his young daughter to safety.
There are no words for how I miss his wise counsel and the time we spent evaluating and analyzing unsolved historical cases.
I also miss his inimitable anecdotes about being a Marine, a Fort Madison guard, a member of the APD Special Operations Team, an investigator on the Central Iowa Drug Task Force, and APD Sergeant of the Detectives.
Howard was always there for me, always had my back, always knew what to say when I needed advice.
Rest in peace, my friend.
